Rant from a Microgreens Grower
Unfortunately, this is not a happy post. Today, I feel really sad and angry.
A few years ago, I lost my mum to cancer. Last Thursday, I lost my dad—his heart had been weak. And this morning, my uncle passed away from cancer, a painful and horrible disease—not to mention incredibly expensive to treat.
Ever since I first heard about microgreens, I’ve researched them extensively. Everything I’ve found highlights their amazing health benefits, especially in supporting heart health and potentially helping to prevent cancer.
Just Google it, and you’ll find numerous studies from the USA confirming their benefits. They’re even recognized by the U.S. government.
But here in Ireland/Europe, we’re not allowed to make any health claims about microgreens. We can’t promote their potential benefits because there aren’t enough government-approved studies here.
In the U.S., supermarkets stock at least ten varieties of microgreens in 170g packages. Here, I once had a manager telling me, “No, because I already sell sprouts.”
So, supermarkets can stock an entire aisle full of sweets and processed junk food, but two companies selling healthy food is apparently too much?
Today, I’m not asking you to buy my microgreens. I’m asking you to educate yourself. Demand microgreens. Find a local microgreens grower. Grow your own.
I don’t know if they can truly prevent disease, but from today onward, my son and I will be eating them every single day.

One of my favourite treats is strawberries or grapes with yoghurt and granola, I use Steve's dreamy happy pear. It is the healthiest I've found.
I just add broccoli microgreens on top. The flavour is mild and crunchy, so they go really well.
